New York Institute of Career Development

The New York Institute of Career Development is part of the Distance Education Company cadre of schools. Distance Education Co. (DEC) strives to be the leading non-traditional academic institution educating people motivated to improve their lives. DEC’s other schools include the New York Institute of Photography (NYIP) and the New York Institute of Art and Design (NYIAD).

The NYICD was established in 2012 offering two programs in the writing space: The Complete Course in Professional Blogging and Fiction & Memoir Writing. These courses were eventually moved to NYIAD as this institute was a better match for the programs.

In 2016, NYICD made the decision to add courses in allied health care and business administration, this was a new direction for the institute.

Additionally, in August of 2017 the institute received licensure from the New York State Education Department and offered six programs.

The institute added Paralegal and Veterinary Assistant career courses to their portfolio in 2018. Today NYICD offers twelve career focused programs in allied health and business.
